Bio
Acclaimed worldwide for his profound musicality and exceptional technical mastery, British cellist Steven Isserlis has built a unique and distinguished career as both a soloist and chamber musician, in addition to his work as a teacher, author of several books, and broadcaster.
Widely regarded as one of the leading cellists of his generation, Isserlis has appeared with many of the world’s foremost orchestras, including the Berlin Philharmonic, the Leipzig Gewandhaus Orchestra, the London Philharmonic Orchestra, the London Symphony Orchestra, the Vienna Philharmonic, the Los Angeles Philharmonic, and the Tonhalle Orchestra Zurich, among others.
Steven Isserlis performs most of his concerts and recitals on the 1726 Stradivarius cello, Marquis de Corberon (Nelsova), which is generously loaned to him by the Royal Academy of Music.
